Time for an adventure

It’s time for an adventure! Traditionally summer is a fun time to travel with your family and friends. With all the closures we know that it will be harder to travel this summer but that doesn’t necessarily have to ruin your chance to have some adventures this summer. Here is our list of eight tips for photographing your friends and family while you are out having fun.

  1.  Watch the light. The best time for photography is early morning and late afternoon.

  2.  Back it up. If you want to take a picture with something that is very large, stand closer to the camera and farther from the background. You don’t want the faces of the people to be teeny tiny in all the photos (unless you want to show-off it’s size).

  3.  Journal it. Take a photo of signs and landmarks so that you remember details of where you were. This will help you later if you decide to journal or scrapbook about any of the photos. I get lost all the time so I use those photos to retrace my steps too!

  4. Perspective. It’s always fun to take the famous postcard photo yourself. Don’t forget to take different angles though and to zoom-in on different details and pieces of the scene. Channel your inner artist and create something new.

  5. Look back! Sometimes there’s a beautiful view behind you. Every now and then look back or, if you’re feeling really daring, lay on the ground and see what’s there.

  6.  Don’t cut the top! Try not to cut off important pieces of your background. If you’re having a hard time fitting the top try stepping back or laying on the ground and shooting up. If the camera is low while shooting a person, lean into the camera.

  7. Mix it up. Take a good mix of close-ups and landscape shots. We don’t need to see our shoes in every photo so letting it be a 3-quarter shot is sometimes better.

  8.  Protect the gear. Never change your lens at the beach. Scarves are also great to carry with you because you can use it to quickly protect the camera from rain or to hide it.

We know you don't have time to read everything and honestly we don't have time to send them all that frequently either. Thank you for being such great customers.
